Since completing my eight-month certification program from the Celebrant Foundation & Institute last year, I’ve had the privilege of creating some amazing ceremonies.
...Three gorgeous weddings...A ritual of remembrance for a community that had lost several beloved members...
Two transition ceremonies for remarkable young women marking big life passages... A “ceremony to come home to oneself,” honoring a 70th birthday... And I provided resources and writing to support those mourning the loss of both human and canine family members.
Now I’m finally getting around to sharing my new work with others. This blog is where I'll tell stories of the many creative ways people are commemorating or celebrating the important moments in their lives.
How have you mourned and marked the passing of those close to you? Celebrated the arrival of new life or a new family configuration? Supported the rites of passage of the young people in your life? Made peace with aging? Strengthened the bonds of your community?
We need more time and space in this world to witness one another, to connect in our joys and sorrows, to bring together "the visible and invisible," as David Whyte says so beautifully, "to produce the miraculous."
Tell me your story. (So many options: Comment on my blog... Post on my Facebook page... Send me an email...
Hey, my phone number is even at the bottom of the page!)
What deserves commemoration or celebration in your life?
